Our complicated relationship with the Tooth Fairy

My children have had a long, surprisingly involved relationship with the tooth fairy.  They are never content to just leave a tooth under the pillow but always have to write a note, sometimes kissing up to the tooth fairy and often flat out requesting a significant reward in exchange for their tooth.

Brynn lost a molar while I was in NC, and upon my return, she told me that she was going to put it under her pillow.  I informed her that past a certain age, the tooth fairy doesn't really come anymore, namely when she realizes you don't even believe in her anymore.

In response to that statement, Brynn had Alex deliver the following note to us Monday night.

This was the envelope

She even drew a picture
Apparently these kids will do anything for a few bucks.

It reminded me of the last tooth Alex lost.  She actually left a long, complicated note that included questions such as "what is your name" for the tooth fairy and a colored pencil next to the note for the tooth fairy to use.  It was pretty cute.  I wish I could remember the tooth fairy's name, but honestly, I can barely remember to do the laundry and feed meals to the children.

I looked through the baskets of notes/letters I've saved over the years to try to find that particular note, and I was amazed at how many notes to the tooth fairy there were.  Highlights included a note in which Davis explained to the tooth fairy that he should receive at least $10 for this particular tooth because it was a molar and very clean, and multiple notes from Brynn that mainly involved a lot of flattery.  Those kids are crazy!

Speaking of crazy, check out Alex's new jacket she begged and begged for at SuperTarget.  Yes, she did come up with that outfit all by herself.  She wore cute red plaid flats with it.  Quite the fashionista.

And just because she wants me to take pictures so that she can run over to the camera and see herself on the screen.
Speaking of crazy, this child had developed an irrational fear of cookie monster.  "Cookie monster coming, he coming, save me, help me..." all day long.  Lucky us.
