Just in case you are starting to think I look crazy in every picture, check out the family photo below.
What is wrong with me? Do you think maybe they have classes for learning to pose in photos? Maybe Auntie Lynne will mentor me. Where is Kelly with his Photoshop when you need him? Look at how sweet Alex looks, though.
I think Alex felt so loved because we had Aunt Tara and her family, Uncle Tai and Ray, Uncle Ben and his family, Aunt Megan and her family, Aunt Anna and Lida, Cory and Jessica, Tara and Mia, the Anderson's, Alivia, Michelle and her primary teacher Sister Tye who all came to support her.
We split the program with Lydia Snow's family, so Aunt Tara gave a talk on baptism. She did an amazing job; it was very tender. Darren baptized and then confirmed Alex, and Davis said the closing prayer. It was really nice.
At one point Brother Farnes who was leading the service asked the two girls to stand up and look at their families and friends, and sweet little Alex started to tear up and get a quivery little jaw. She looked right at me and said, "I think I'm getting a cold--that's why my eyes are runny." Nice to know that gene didn't skip a generation.
Afterwards, we invited everyone to our destroyed home for soup, sandwiches and dessert. Thanks everyone for your last minute help when I realized that I wasn't going to be able to pull it together and take care of the house on my own. You are the best friends and family ever.
The cake was so pretty; I wish I'd gotten a picture. But, I do have plenty of pictures of everyone and their dog eating an Oreo ball. I think they were the hit of the day--thanks, Brynn. Everyone had a great time.
Poor angelic Luke--I didn't know it was possible for him to take a bad picture.
That's Cory behind the flowers.
Kind of a crazy picture of Michelle and me, but the baby looks so cute peeking up over the counter.
All in all, it was a great day. Alex got lots of great gifts like a CTR ring, earrings, journals, a bracelet, a cool scroll pen, money, notebooks, etc. People were awesome. Thank you.
I spent the rest of the afternoon wrapping gifts while Darren took Alex out for some one-on-one time, and then I ended the day by finally getting my hair done. Thank you, Sarah. It was so relaxing, and I actually really like it.
Only on this blog do you go from spiritual experiences to plain old vanity in 5 seconds flat. You're welcome.
